Car festival will be held on January 9 ‘Teppotsava’ will be held on January 10 TIRHTHAHALLI: Tirthahalli town is being decked up for the famous “Ellu Amavasye Jatre” of Sri Rameshwar temple which will be held from January 8 to 10. The historic stone mantap on the bank of the Tunga is being given the final touches to mark the event. The preliminary religious preparations commenced from January 6 with offering puja to the Ganapati idol which was followed by the Adivas Homa and Mahapuja the next day. The main event will begin with the worship of the Parashuram Teertha and Tirthabhishek on Tuesday, which will be followed by the Hiregange puje in the evening. The car festival will be held in the noon on January 9 which will be followed by Bhoota Bali and Shayanotsava in the evening. Teppotsava — the highlight of the festival — will be held on January 10. The banks of the river and the bridge across the Tunga in the town are being decorated colourfully. The structures located on either side the river are also being illuminated. The event will be marked by colourful fireworks. Rituals such as kumbhabhisheks and ranga puja will be held till January 15. Special pujas will be held in the temple on Makara Sankranthi on January 15. Various committees are set up to oversee the preparations for the festival which is expected to attract a large number of visitors from far and near.
