KOCHI: The ongoing load-shedding during night in the State will end by Sunday, when pipeline work of the Neriamangalam extension scheme will end, Power Minister A.K. Balan has said. He added that there would be no load-shedding this year, as was the case in 2007. Mr. Balan was addressing mediapersons at Aluva on Monday evening, after a meeting of KSEB officials from the district to review the power supply situation in Ernakulam. Charge against centreHe alleged that the Central government was diverting power meant for Kerala to Tamil Nadu. “This is a grave injustice to domestic and commercial power consumers in the State.” He said that steps were on to generate 2000 MW in Kerala in 10 years. Hydro-electric projects would produce 1000 MW, while 1000 MW would come from a thermal power plant being set up in Orissa. This was apart from 50 MW planned to be harnessed from wind. The State urgently needed a power highway to meet its energy needs, the Minister said.
