Farmers protest

KOLAR: Activists of Kolar Zilla Raitha Hitarakshana Vedike burnt in effigy the Deputy Commissioner G. Ramachandra near the taluk office circle here on Monday, condemning the alleged anti-farmer stand off by the deputy commissioner. Protesters raised slogans against the DC for his reported misbehaviour with leaders of the Vedike when they were agitating near his office a few days ago while demanding minimum support price for tomato.

Addressing the gathering, Vedike president Moorandahalli Gopal urged the Governor to transfer the “insensitive” deputy commissioner. — Staff Correspondent
