This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru said in Madras on January 6 that in the matter of adopting a common language for India, they had to proceed without rigidity and with some flexibility and arrive at a decision with general consent. Mr. Nehru who released the fifth volume of the Tamil Encyclopaedia at a function got up in Rajaji Hall, felt sure that difficult as the language problem was, they would be able to arrive at an arrangement by which no disability would be created for people of one part of the country in comparison with those in other parts. The articles of special interest included in the volume deal with subjects such as China, Solar System, telephone, trigonometry, botany, newspaper, mural paintings, Tamil language and literature.
