Saurashtra claims trophy

Srivilliputtur: Saurashtra University (Rajkot), lifted the Anandam Ammal memorial Trophy defeating Calicut University by 10 runs in the final of the all India inter-university Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Kalasalingam University at Krishnan Koil near here on Monday.

In the play-off third place match, Pondicherry beat Annamalai University by 34 runs and took home Rs.30,000.

Annamalai got Rs.20,000.

Saurashtra 100 for eight in 20 overs (Mohamed Riyas two for 11, Simnaj Hassan two for 16, Vinodh Kumar two for 22, Sateesh Chandran two for 15) bt Calicut 90 for seven in 20 overs (Dijin Paul 25, Vyshak Chandran 25, Raval Kuldip two for four, Jadeja Balakrishna two for 14).

Third place:

Pondicherry 139 for nine in 20 overs (Mohamed Mohideen 64, Arun Kumar five for 21, Anitharaj two for 14) bt Annamalai 105 in 18.5 overs (Sivakumar 25, K. Sheik Hameed four for 10, Prabhu three for 17, Senthil Kumar two for 21).
