Rehabilitation land almost ready

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Preparatory work on the land at Kakkanad identified for rehabilitating those displaced for laying a rail link for the proposed Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal is nearly over, District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said on Monday.

Mr. Hanish told presspersons that over 2,000 loads of sand had been used for the work. The next step was to provide basic infrastructure, such as road, water and power, for which instructions had been given to the respective departments.

Draw of lots

A draw of lots for allotting plots would be held next week, he added.

The land at Kakkanad would be used for rehabilitating the displaced from Edappally north and south villages.
