23,081 children given polio drops on Monday

4,934 teams visit 39,8650 homes as part of the drive

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the second day of the polio immunisation programme on Monday, the drops were administered to 23,081 children in the district, a press note issued by District Medical Officer G. Prema said.

Of these 8,581 children were from rural areas and 14,500 from the city. With this the drive has achieved an implementation rate of 90.9 per cent. Over the past two days the drops have been administered to 2,80423 children, the press note said.

On Monday 4,934 teams consisting of health workers and anganwadi workers visited 39,8650 homes as part of the pulse polio drive.

Pulse polio booths will be opened at government and private hospitals, railway stations, bus stands, tourist centres and at airports on January 8.

Children who did not get the polio drops on January 6 and 7 can be administered the same on January 8, the press note added.
