Sister was molested, alleges Manipuri woman

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A young Manipuri woman has alleged that her sister was molested by a man and she and her brother were beaten up by him and his accomplices at Timarpur here on Saturday. The police have registered a case and detained three minors, including the prime accused.

The complainant runs a cyber café at Gandhi Vihar in Timarpur. According to the police, she earlier alleged that a local resident misbehaved with her after which she allegedly slapped him on Saturday evening. The accused, a minor, returned with his few friends, abused her and also slapped her. However, on Monday morning, the woman lodged another complaint, this time alleging that her sister was returning from a coaching class on Saturday evening when the prime accused and his friends followed her and passed lewd remarks on her, at which she scolded them. Later when the two sisters were in the cyber café, he and one of his friends allegedly abused them and threatened to close down the café.

The accused tried to enter the premises but a customer intervened. The accused then left the place and allegedly sent seven others to the café who manhandled them.
