GUNTUR: Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Communist Party of India Guntur district units re-launched the ‘Bhooporatam’ (struggle for house sites for the poor) in their own way on Monday making their intentions clear. While CPI district Secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao led party workers during a dharna in front of District Collector’s office demanding immediate identification of the genuine eligible persons among those who had occupied the lands and providing pattas.About 200 persons gathered to lodge protest and sat there throughout the day demanding immediate settling of the issue so that the poor could begin construction of houses either under some government scheme or on their own. Meanwhile, the CPI (M) activists picketed in front of the offices of the Tadikonda and Guntur-I MLAs demanding their intervention to expedite the identification and allotment of the house sites.
