Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Monday said Kerala’s progressive social environment was not favourable for terrorists. Inaugurating the South Zone Training Institute for Special Branch Officers of southern States and Union Territories at the Police Training College here, he asked the police to be on “alert” against “criminals” fleeing the law in other States. Enactment of the land reforms Act, total literacy, narrowing urban-rural divide, diminishing social inequalities, developing infrastructure, better connectivity and growing communication facilities were effective bulwarks against the spread of extremist ideologies in the State. He said terrorism would be ideologically defeated in Kerala.
