S.K. Agrawal CHENNAI: S. K. Agrawal, (55), Director-Projects, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), died in Mumbai of multi-organ failure on Monday. He fell ill on Friday and his condition deteriorated on Sunday night. He was responsible for the construction of all nuclear reactors in the country and those about to come up, including six coastal projects involving imported reactors. Before, he became the Director-Projects, he was Project-Director of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu, where two Russian reactors are being constructed by the NPCIL. Dynamic personalityA dynamic personality and a team leader, Mr. Agrawal initiated many socio-economic welfare schemes in the villages around Koodankulam. This mad him very popular with the villagers and many named their children after him. A graduate in Electrical Engineering from the Roorkee College of Engineering, he joined the Department of Atomic Energy in 1975. He had worked at the Kakrapara Atomic Power Station (Gujarat) and the Narora Atomic Power Station (Uttar Pradesh). Steady rise in careerMr. Agrawal had a steady rise in his career at NPCIL and he became a Distinguished Scientist in 2007. He is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters.
