Man tied to jeep, dragged for 2 km for theft

Jalpaiguri (West Bengal): A man who stole some betel nuts at South Ballalguri village in this district was tied to a jeep and dragged for two km before he was beaten up and acid poured into his eyes. The whereabouts of Santosh Rai (26) are still not known after Saturday’s incident. Villagers caught hold of Rai, tied him to a jeep and dragged him to the panchayat office, where he was bashed up and acid poured into his eyes. — PTI
