From serious to a ‘gay’ role

Madhur Tankha

Serious actor: Harsh Chhaya

New Delhi: A familiar face on the television screen, actor Harsh Chhaya will play a gay fashion designer in the much talked-about Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film “Fashion”.

Though Harsh was not the first choice for the character because of his serious image, he was keen on essaying the role. Harsh bought a wig and some gaudy clothes to get that particular look.

He changed his looks by getting his eyebrows done and then shot himself on a video camera and presented the DVD to Madhur.

Sincere effort

“I just told Madhur to watch the DVD. I put in a sincere effort and I am grateful to Madhur for casting me in the film. There are very few opportunities like this available to an actor, I saw one and had to grab it with both hands,” says Harsh.

Harsh adds that despite Madhur’s stature in Bollywood he gives his time and attention to every actor.

“Very few people in the industry do this today. That is why Madhur stands out as a director as he believes in quality work,” adds Harsh, who also acted in Madhur’s “Corporate”.

Priyanka Chopra is playing one of the female leads in the film that will provide cinema lovers a glimpse of the action behind the glamorous fashion industry.
