Welfare assistance distributed

Nagercoil: Distribution of awards to great persons in the filed of social service, distribution of sewing machines to the poor and downtrodden, particularly widows, marked the visit of District Governor of Lion’s International, Thiyagarajan, on Monday.

The secretary of the club, R. Arul Kannan submitted the annual report. Sathiyathas, post-man of Eraniel for his dedicated service in the Postal Department, Mahesh of Monday Market and Paul Raj of Mondaicadu, who donated blood to save the lives of tsunami-hit, Maria John, the best teacher of Kanyakumari district (i.e.) Kurunthencode received medals and awards from the District Governor.

He also inaugurated a sanitary complex at New Life De-addiction Centre in Nagercoil and the newly renovated Anganwadi centre at Monday Market.

He appreciated the effort made by the office-bearers of the Lions Club of Neyyoor- Monday Market in conducting medical camps and quiz programme organised for students.

The Lion’s Nagar, constructed for the benefit of tsunami-affected fishermen, would be opened soon.
