HAVERI: Around 200 workers of the Karnataka Cooperative Sugar Factory (KCSF) at Sangur, who returned to Haveri from Bangalore, took out a procession here on Tuesday to celebrate the “victory of labourers”. The workers had staged a protest in Bangalore under the aegis of Akhil Bharat Kisan Sabha demanding revival of the factory. Consequently, the Governor had announced that the sugar factory would be revived. On reaching Haveri, the jubilant workers, including women, began celebrating by smearing “gulal” and bursting crackers. Holding banners and raising slogans about unity of labourers, the workers took out a procession from the Hukkeri Mutt premises. The procession passed through the thoroughfares of the city, including the Hosmani Siddappa Circle, and culminated at the math.
