Chaldean Syrian HSS leads in youth festival

First prize winners: The team from Bethany St. John’s HSS, Kunnamkulam, which came first in Oppana; Sharanya Sasidharan of Sacred Heart Convent Girls Higher Secondary School, Chalakudy, who won the first place in Mohiniyattom;Vishnu Tharavath, Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thrissur, who came first in Carnatic vocals, and N.R. Risham, Bethany St. John’s HSS, Kunnamkulam, who won the first place in Arabic and Urdu recitation at the Thrissur District HSS Youth Festival on Tuesday.

Thrissur: The Chaldean Syrian Higher Secondary School was leading with a tally of 56 points when the results of 40 events were announced on Tuesday at the District Higher Secondary Schools Youth Festival being held at Kunnamkulam, near here.

National JHSS, Irinjalakuda, and Panangad Higher Secondary School, Mathilakom, were in the second and third positions, with 54 and 45 points respectively.

The following are the first prize winners in some of the events:

Oppana: Bethany St. John’s HSS, Kunnamkulam.

Mohiniyattom: Sharanya Sasidharan, Sacred Heart Convent Girls Higher Secondary School, Chalakudy.

Carnatic vocals: Vishnu Tharavath, Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thrissur.

Recitation Arabic and Urdu: N.R. Risham, Bethany St. John’s HSS, Kunnamkulam.

Versification (Sanskrit): M.S. Manasa, RMHSS, Aloor.

Kuchipudi (Boys): P.V. Sandeep, Little Flower Convent HSS, Koratty.

Short-story writing (Sanskrit): Prasad Unnikrishnan, St. Antony’s HSS, Mala.

Elocution (Hindi): Tony Raphy, St. Mary’s HSS, Irinjalakuda.

Recitation (Kannada): Hanna P. John, St. Mary’s HSS, Irinjalakuda.
