THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs.23.68 crore to the State for implementing 91 projects in six of the districts in the State.

Seventy-two of these projects are minor irrigation works involving loan of Rs.17.42 crore from NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). Wayanad, Kasaragod, Palakkad, Malappuram and Ernakulam are the districts where the minor irrigation projects are proposed.

These projects will bring a total area of 3,710.68 hectares newly under irrigation, NABARD said in a press release here on Tuesday. The remaining 19 projects are for building rural roads in the districts of Kollam, Malappuram, Palakkad and Kasaragod. These involve an RIDF loan of Rs.6.26 crore.
