Madikeri: The former Minister, M.C. Nanaiah, on Tuesday indicated that he was close to joining a “secular political party” as he had come under pressure from his supporters recently. Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Nanaiah said he had found out that “casteism” was more dangerous than religion. He said he would never align with those perpetuating “casteism” and religion. “I am firm about my options. I have not retired from politics,” he said. Mr. Nanaiah said he had striven to unite the Janata Parivar but his efforts did not pay dividends. Now that the leaders of the erstwhile Janata Parivar had identified with different parties, the situation had become all the more difficult. However, the people of the State still felt that the Janata Parivar parties had given the best governance in the past, he said.
