Thej, Stany share lead

MANGALORE: M.S. Thej Kumar and G.A. Stany, with seven points each, shared the lead after eight rounds in the Mangalore FIDE-rated State open chess championship on the penultimate day of the event here on Tuesday.

While Thej defeated R. Pawashe Aniketh (6), Stany downed Vivek Nambiar (6). B.S. Shivanandan (6) held overnight joint leader V. Raghavendra (6.5), while N. Sanjay, P. Gopalakrishna and M.G. Gahan are half-a-point behind the leaders.
