Health camp for police personnel

TAKE CARE: An officer being examined at a health camp for police personnel in Udhagamandalam on Tuesday.

Udhagamanddalam: A large number of police personnel and their families benefited from a free general health and dental camp organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s Young Indians (YI) in association with the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangatham, Bharat Travels and Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals here on Tuesday.

Medical team

Pointing out that the focus was on oral health, the head of the medical team T. Chandrashekar said that neglect of the teeth and gums led to a number of complications.

He added that enhancing awareness about oral cancer was among the objectives. The Additional Superintendent of Police, S. Munusu inaugurated the camp.

The Executive Member,YI Teja pointed out that over the last three days a series of camps had been conducted in various parts of the Nilgiris including Ketti.

Dental ailments

Apart from screening the patients for various dental ailments, comprehensive treatment was provided. Extractions, scaling and filling were also done. The most important part of the camps was educating the beneficiaries about preventive aspects and correct brushing techniques.

The ill effects of smoking and chewing tobacco were also highlighted. A fully-equipped mobile dental treatment van formed part of the camp.
