Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Hawkers Union has threatened to launch dharnas in front of corporate vegetable retailers as is being done in Uttar Pradesh.

The union has given a deadline of March 31 before corporates suspend their operations.

The union has sought immediate implementation of the insurance scheme for hawkers. The union also wanted increase in ex gratia given to hawkers from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 75,000 at a press conference addressed on Tuesday by its convenor Ramshetty Narender, who is also a member of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Telangana Rashtra Udyama Committee.

Among the other demands he made were sanction of houses to hawkers under Indiramma programme and stopping of harassment by the traffic and civil policemen.
