US-India business team eager to set up tech park

CHANDIGARH: A 16-member delegation of the US-India Business Alliance (USIBA) met Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday evening and discussed with him a proposal to establish an American Technology Park in Haryana.

The delegation, which had called on Mr. Hooda in New Delhi, recalled that the USIBA had mooted the plan to establish an American Technology Park in Haryana after a meeting with the Chief Minister during his visit to the US last year.

The Chief Minister said that the Government proposed to develop an Industrial Model Township near Rohtak and a Global Corridor along the 135 km long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in the National Capital Region falling in Haryana.

Mr. Hooda asserted that with the highest per capita income in the country and adoption of new industrial policy, Haryana had become the first choice of investors in India. This was evident from the fact that capital investment in the State during the last more than two-and-a-half years rule of the present regime had crossed over Rs. 28,000 crore. Seventy per cent of this investment was for setting up industries particularly small and medium ones.

Haryana had also emerged as the first choice of the companies to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and a separate policy on setting up SEZs had been formulated to facilitate public and private sector investment.

The Haryana Government also planned to develop nine different cities like film city, fashion city, dry port, entertainment city in different parts of the State.

Earlier, a delegation of Darvesh Group led by Talib Hassan Darvesh also met the Chief Minister for investing in real estate and sharing of latest technology in safety and security of buildings.
