HYDERABAD: Bringing alive memories of the nascent stages that Salar Jung Museum passed, a photo exhibition opened at the museum which would be open till January 14. Organised as part of the Museum Week celebrations, the exhibition has lined up 178 rare photographs of the museum at Dewan Deodi where it was housed till 1968 when it was shifted to the present premises. These pictures in black and white offer a view of different sections such as Chinese Gallery, Japanese Gallery, Nepal Gallery, Burma Gallery, Jade Gallery, Painting Gallery and Western Gallery that formed part of the museum then. The exhibition was inaugurated by Museum Director A.K.V.S. Reddy on the first floor of the central block. The women staff of the museum would be decorating ‘Rangoli’ at the central foyer of the main building on January 10 as part of ‘Sankranti’ festivities. The museum is also organising a five-day international workshop on Traditional Knowledge, Museums and Intangible Heritage from February 3, added Mr. Reddy.
