Man held on charges of extortion
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police on charges of trying to extort money from a dry-fruits businessman.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Cell team laid a trap near Shiv Bhola temple at Tilak Nagar on Monday and arrested Shiv Pratap Yadav alias Pappu. A pistol and two live cartridges have allegedly been recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Satish purportedly told the police that he had come to Delhi in 2001 and worked as a painter for a few years. In 2006, he came in contact with Shiv Kumar and Naushad and took to crime. The police said the accused wanted to make easy money and demanded Rs.20 lakh from the businessman.
