VISAKHAPATNAM: Nearly 48 hours after the building collapse at Dabagardens that claimed two lives, the body of one of the labourers, S.K.Aslam,40, still lay in the rubble. Rescue personnel and those of the Fire Department who had tried to drill through the piled up concrete gave it up following the danger of the remaining structure collapsing. Cracks in the cross-beams of the third floor that has been bearing the brunt of the rubble have widened since the collapse on Sunday night. “As drilling is going on we felt movement of the slab beneath our feet,” said a port rescue worker. Police Commissioner N. Sambasiva Rao and Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena and experts from Andhra University and GITAM Engineering College visited the building.
