DCC to stage dharna tomorrow

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Congress Committee president V.S. Sivakumar said here on Tuesday that the failure of the LDF regime in the State to rein in prices of essential commodities and medicines has made life miserable for the common man.

Addressing a press conference to explain the arrangements for the dharna to be staged by the DCC in front of the Secretariat on Thursday, he said the LDF regime was marked by inefficiency.

“Governance has become a casualty to the intense infighting within the CPI(M). Prices of essential goods have doubled over the last 18 months.

Neighbouring states have held prices at 50 to 60 per cent less than what it is in Kerala,” he said.

Mr. Sivakumar said 20,000 Congress workers from the district were expected to participate in the dharna to be inaugurated by senior party leader K. Karunakaran. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala is scheduled to address the dharna.

Mr. Sivakumar said party workers would march to the venue of the dharna under the banner of block committees.
