Search for newborn girl continues

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The city police are continuing with their search for the newborn girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by a woman from K.C. General Hospital on Saturday evening.

According to the police, the city police team which went to Pavagada did not find any trace about Channamma, who is alleged to have taken away the child. The child’s father Manjunath, who had accompanied the police, did not know about the place where the woman was staying in Pavagada.

The police could not get any information about the woman from enquires made in Pavagada. The baby was reportedly taken away by a woman who had befriended Manjunath and his wife Mahalakshmi soon after it was born on Saturday. Manjunath, who initially claimed he did not know the woman, later admitted before the police that the woman was Channamma and he knew her.

Director for Health and Family Welfare Premaleela visited the hospital here on Tuesday and made enquiries about the incident.
