Jothi (50) donated her entire savings of Rs.50,000 for the Sri Kumarakottam Temple’s renovation
Jothi, construction worker, engaged in the Sri Kumarakottam Temple renovation work in Kancheepuram.
KANCHEEPURAM: Woman construction worker Jothi (50) on Tuesday donated her entire savings of Rs.50,000 for the Sri Kumarakottam Temple’s renovation.
Handing over the amount to members of the Kumarakottam Temple Trust Board, Ms. Jothi, a widow, who was engaged as a casual labourer for the ongoing temple renovation work, said that an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga, she was residing alone in rented premises on Chetty Street, Little Kancheepuram.
She had worked as a construction assistant on several sites in and around Kancheepuram for the past two or three decades and has no children.
“I have decided to donate part of my savings towards the Kumarakottam temple renovation work after I got convinced that there was sufficient money in my bank account to look after myself in future”, she said and went on to prepare cement-sand mixture for construction work on the temple premises.
