KOLKATA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday submitted its findings on the events leading to the death of Rizwanur Rahman to the Calcutta High Court. His body was found lying by the side of the railway tracks near here on September 21, 2007. Contents not disclosedThe contents of the report, submitted to Justice Dipankar Dutta in a sealed cover, were not disclosed. The matter will be taken up for hearing on Friday. Rahman’s death under mysterious circumstances a few weeks after his marriage to Priyanka, daughter of an influential city businessman, Ashok Todi, had led to a public outcry amid reports that the latter was opposed to the marriage, as well as the subsequent transfer of five officials of the city police, including the then Commissioner of Police. In an interim order, the agency was directed by the High Court on October 16 to investigate the incident and submit its report within two months. The date to do so was deferred following a petition on December 17 by counsel for the CBI seeking further time. The CBI had begun its probe into the death on October 20, 2007.
