NEW DELHI: “There is a new vibrancy, vitality, confidence and hope in this country and it is palpable to everyone visiting India,” Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, said here on Tuesday. Urging the Indian diaspora to grab the opportunity to engage in India’s development, Mr. Ramgoolam, chief guest of the sixth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, said they owed it to India. Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi highlighted the measures taken by the government to engage with Persons of Indian Origin and Non-Resident Indians. In particular, he dwelt on the bilateral Social Security Agreements India was pursuing with several member states of the European Union which had a significant overseas Indian population, and Memoranda of Understanding signed with some Gulf countries on labour issues.
