Formidables triumphs

Bharuch: Formidables, which was playing in its sixth Ruia Trophy final, won its maiden trophy on Monday. Down 12 IMPs against Manyavar, with the last segment of 16 boards to go, it gained 27 IMPs in the final segment to win 110-95.

The second elimination of the board-a-match event for the Mohan Sicka Trophy was completed on Monday and 20 teams have qualified for the finals to be played on Wednesday.

Although the Ruia Trophy finalists were seeded into the finals, it is learnt that only Formidables would be playing.

The top eight teams (out of the 20 qualifiers) are Maya Mira Sneha, Navayuga Engineering, Trambak Rubber, Wearology, Tolani Shipping, Indian Railway ‘A’, J.P. Goenka and Malani’s IV.

The second elimination round of the pairs event, for the Holkar Trophy, is on.
