BANGALORE: The National Youth Day would be observed on January 12 jointly by the Vishwa-Manava Swami Vivekanda Prathima Prathistapana Samiti and Ramakrishna Math. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Swami Japananda, the managing trustee, said that the observance of the National Youth Day is part of the trust’s project to install the statue of Swami Vivekananda in front of Ramakrishna Math. “Youth day is observed to rebuild the nation and strive for the national integration on the lines of the ideas propagated by Swami Vivekananda,” he said. Swami Harshananda of Ramakrishna Math said that nearly 1,000 students from various colleges would render messages of Swami Vivekananda. On behalf of the trust, books on Swami Vivekananda and certificate will be given to the participants, he added. The programme will be inaugurated by Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Swami Harshananda will preside. L.S. Sheshagiri Rao, writer and critic, and S. Sadhakshari, author, will speak on the occasion.
