Residents robbed of valuables, cash

BELLARY: A three-member gang broke into two houses in Avambhavi locality here in the early hours on Wednesday, and robbed the people of valuables at knife-point.

The robbers, wearing masks and gloves, first struck at the house of Veeraraju, a poultry farm owner and forced their way inside by breaking the main door.

Brandishing knives, they threatened to harm him if they did not hand over valuables and cash.

The gang made away with 50 tolas of gold, 42 kg of silver and cash worth Rs. 10,000. They then attacked the house of Leelaprasad on the first floor of the same building and made away with 10 tolas of gold, two kg of silver and Rs. 10,000 in cash.

Search

The police, on being informed of the incident, rushed to the spot and conducted a search, but in vain.

Additional Superintendent of Police D.C. Rajappa said that the robbers, all youth, had spoken Telugu.

A case has been registered with the Bellary Rural Police in this regard.
