Women rescued from brothels

NEW DELHI: Over 50 young women have been rescued from brothels on G.B. Road here during raids conducted by the Andhra Pradesh police here . Two dozen women have been arrested on charges of involvement in human trafficking.

The operation, which started around 8 p.m. went on till midnight.

The Delhi police said their Andhra Pradesh counterparts approached them for assistance in conducting raids on the brothels as they had received complaints of young women and minors from the State having been forced into the flesh trade in the Capital.

Accordingly, the local police and the Crime Branch sleuths assisted the Andhra Pradesh police in conducting the raids on four brothels. Two non-government organisations were also involved.
