TDP alleges illegal mining in Adilabad
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday demanded the arrest of persons and firms that were indulging in illegal mining of manganese ore in the mandals of Tamsi and Jainad in Adilabad district. The party also sought a thorough probe into the activity in which two Congress MLAs in the district had allegedly an active role to play.
Telugu Rythu district president G. Goverdhan Reddy, TDP spokesman and Jainad Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Jogu Ramanna and others took the media to the sites where alleged illegal mining was taking place. At Jamdapur about 25 farmers complained to the press party that a firm was involved in the mining in their fields.
Giving details of the illegal mining operations, Mr. Goverdhan Reddy said with the active involvement of two Congress MLAs the persons and firms in question were carrying out their activities unhindered. He said even officials of the Mines and Geology Department were under pressure to cooperate with the manganese ‘smugglers’, he added.
