Bomb hoax at court

TIRUPATTUR: The Tirupattur ‘Q’ Branch on Tuesday received a phone call that a naxalite group had planted a bomb on the combined court campus at Tirupattur, even as a naxal and murder accused was set to be produced here on Wednesday. A bomb squad checked the campus and found the call a hoax.

Mahalingam, identified as a leader of a naxalite group in Theni, had allegedly murdered two persons in his native village, Kudapattu, in 1978. Following the arrest and interrogation of three naxals at Theni recently, he was nabbed.
