PDP charge against UDF

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday accused the UDF coalition of not being a responsible Opposition.

Talking to reporters here, PDP working chairman Poonthura Siraj said the UDF proved to be weak and disoriented when it came to taking up issues like price hike, problems faced by pilgrims at Sabarimala, bad roads and the government policies in education sector.

“The LDF government has not met the public’s expectations. But the UDF has failed to fulfil its responsibility as an Opposition force.”

Mr. Siraj said the Congress should replace Oommen Chandy with senior leader K. Karunakaran as Opposition Leader. “Only Mr. Karunakaran’s return to the party fold can galvanise the ranks,” he said.
