White ragi variety developed

VIZIANAGARAM: District Farm Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre here has developed white ragi variety (VRW 936 and VRW 942) , according to N.DRK Sarma, senior scientist of the centre. At a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Sarma said the new ragi variety which is whitey colour in contrast to the traditional brown and wheatish varieties was developed after years of research and hybridization of Godavari variety and IE-2695. The newly developed variety was being recommended to State Varieties Release Committee (SVRC), Hyderabad shortly for approval. —Correspondent
