Dry weather

NEW DELHI: RAINFALL: Rain/snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Punjab and at a few places in Haryana and west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: HARYANA: Kalka 1, HIMACHAL PRADESH: Dhundhi 8, Solangnala 7, Bhuntar 6, Bhang, Rampur Bushahar, shimla and Sundernagar 4 each, Mandi 3, Hahan and Pandoh 2 each and Guler, Ghamroor, Nadaun, Sujanpurtira and Una 1 each, JAMMU AND KASHMIR: Batote 6, Banihal 5, Kupwara and Katra 3 each, Bhaderwah, jammu and Quazigund 2 each and Kukarnag, Pahalgam and Srinagar 1 each, PUNJAB: Adampur, Amritsar, Balachour, Dhuri, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mukerian, Muktsar, Nangal, Patiala and Ropar 1 each and WEST RAJASTHAN: Sriganganar 1.

TEMPERATURE: The minimum temperatures rose in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and changed little elsewhere.

They were markedly above normal in Haryana, Punjab Rajasthan and Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 6.8°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 11th January 2008: Rain/snow is likely at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places in Punjab, at a few places in Haryana including Chandigarh and Delhi and at isolated places in Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in east Uttar Pradesh. Night temperatures are likely to fall in region after 24 hours.

FORECAST FOR DELHI AND NEIGHBOURHOOD VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 11th January 2008: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain. The minimum temperature will be around 11°C.
