INTUC told to redefine role

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran on Wednesday urged the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) to change its style of functioning in tune with the changes in the industrial sector.

Inaugurating the first meeting of the revamped State executive of the trade union, Mr. Karunakaran said changes taking place in society and around the world were bound to affect the labour sector as well. Unless there is a change in the style of functioning, trade unions would find it difficult to survive in the modern context. He said INTUC was an inalienable part of the Congress, even while retaining its identity as an independent organisation.
