Fruit processing units to be set up at Nelliampathy ‘Honey Congress,’ ‘Mango Festival’ to be organised THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government-owned orange and vegetable farm at Nelliampathy will be revived. Besides, a horticulture research centre will be set up at the farm. These decisions were taken at a conference convened by Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran to review the project of the State Horticulture Mission. The conference decided to set up a fruit processing units with modern facilities at Nelliampathy and develop a modern fruit garden. at Nelliampathy It also resolved to revive the functioning of Agro Fruits Products at Punalur. Infrastructure facilitiesInfrastructure facilities will be developed for the marketing of honey, mushroom and flowers. The conference also proposed to organise a ‘Honey Congress’ in April this year and ‘Mango Festival’ in January next year. As part of plans to improve the functioning of the Horticulture Mission, a deputy director each was entrusted with the task of implementation of the programmes in each district. Projects would be planned according to requirements of each district, it was decided at the conference .
