Kochi: The State government told the Kerala High Court on Wednesday that it proposed to issue specific instructions to department heads, District Collectors, and heads of local bodies on the need to celebrate national days. In a statement filed in response to a directive, the government said that it expected the national days to be celebrated in colourful ways in the State capital, district headquarters and block and panchayat levels. The instructions now given by the State government were only general. The court had directed the government to file a statement on the manner in which the national days were celebrated at various government offices. Notice stayedJustice Antony Dominic has stayed the Railways’ notices directing the railway station telephone booth operators (handicapped) to pay the Railways a commission above 10 per cent of the commission they receive from the BSNL. The stay order came on a writ petition filed by the Indian Railways Public Telephone Holders Association (Handicapped).
