Corrections and clarifications

“The Steel Authority of India Steel Ltd (SAIL) and Tata Steel on Thursday announced a 50-50 joint venture for Cola mining…” (“Tata Steel, Sail form joint venture,” Business, January 4, 2008). A reader finds ‘Cola (for coal) mining’ the “funniest word of 2008.” There is also an unnecessary Steel in this sentence.

“The second semi-final of the day, featuring top-seed Rafael Nadal and his compatriot Guillermo Garcia-Lopez…” (“Moya sails past Serra,” Sport, January 5, 2008) had the round wrong. It was the second quarter-final.

In “Sharapova enters final,” (Sport, January 5, 2008) the text said Ana Ivanovic lost to Peng Shuai, but the results were the other way around. The results column was correct, Ana Ivanovic lost.

Again, the scorecard was right and the text wrong in “Gujarat takes narrow lead,” (Sport, January 8, 2008) when the report said Railways was 14 for 2 at close; the scorecard said 14 for one.
