Congress office-bearers meet Sonia

NEW DELHI: The All-India Congress Committee office-bearers on Wednesday met party president Sonia Gandhi and wished her speedy recovery from her recent bout of illness.

Ms. Gandhi, hospitalised on New Year’s day with chest infection, is recovering at her residence after being discharged on Sunday morning.

Several party general secretaries and office-bearers, including some Union Ministers who met Ms. Gandhi, wanted to present bouquets but not allowed to do so for fear of infection.

The meeting lasted more than 20 minutes.

Some general secretaries briefed her on the latest situation in their area of responsibility.
