Wonder XI is champion

Udhagamandalam: A fine piece of bowling by G.J. Dass (six for 16) enabled Wonder XI Cricket Club score a 53-run win over Mechanics Cricket Club in the final of the Canara Bank-NDCA ‘B’ division league for the A.R. Rajoo Gowder Memorial Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds here recently.

The scores (final): Wonder XI CC 205 (S. Suresh four for 50) bt Mechanics CC 152 (G.J. Dass six for 16).

Sundaresan sparkles

S.M. Sundaresan (four for 39 & 40) played a crucial role in Arumugam XI Cricket Club’s three-wicket win over R.K.S Cricket Academy in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds in Coimbatore recently.

The scores:

First division: R.K.S CA 150 in 40.5 overs (S.M. Sundaresan four for 39) lost to Arumugam XI CC 153 for seven in 38.4 overs (S.M. Sundaresan 40).

Indian CC 133 in 49.2 overs (Manikandan 41 not out, Ashok five for 19) lost to Rainbow CC 137 for six in 25.5 overs (Kanagaraj 48).

Tirupur CC 210 for seven in 50 overs (Tamilselvan 50) bt ABT CC 183 in 44.2 overs (Arun 76, Nallasivam four for 32, Somasundaram four for 27).

Second division: PSG Tech 253 for seven in 50 overs (Manikandan 56, Arun Kumar 81) lost to Lakshmi Mills Colony CC 258 for six in 49 overs (Gunasekar 50, Dipak 48, Manthrachalam 40).

Easy for Friends

Friends Recreation Club posted a 41-run win over Dolphin Cricket Club in the CDCA-Sri Ramakrishna Mills prize money knockout cricket tournament at the CIT grounds in Coimbatore recently.

The scores: Friends RC 134 in 29.5 overs (Palanisamy 40 not out, Prakash four for 24) bt Dolphin CC 93 in 25 overs; Tirupur CA 156 for five (Balaji 48, Shankar four for 25) bt CIT 153 for seven (Dinesh 67).

Mukund, Champaka shine

Mukund (Madurai) and Champaka (Salem) clinched a triple title each in the Combined Districts open table tennis tournament at the R.S. Puram Club in Coimbatore recently.

Sathyabama, Punjabi, Kurukshetra and Punjab entered the semifinals of the all-India inter-zone inter-university basketball tournament in Pudukkotai on Wednesday.
