Minister’s assurance to civic staff

Special Correspondent

Hyderabad: The State government will take steps to ensure that ‘injustice’ is not done to the contract employees working in various municipal corporations and municipalities.

This assurance was given on Wednesday by Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao while interacting with representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Contract Employees’ Association, which pressed for making 30,000 staff permanent.

Conveners of the association in a statement later said Mr. Ranga Rao promised to hold a high-level meeting to take decisions on job security, regularisation and other demands of the contract staff.
