Kolkata: The Kerala government has embarked on a tourism policy aimed at avoiding monopoly benefits for “capitalists,” the State’s Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Wednesday. “A tourism policy has been adopted by the Kerala government to avoid monopoly for a group of capitalists reaping the benefits of tourism and to ensure conservation of nature. The local community should benefit from tourism,” he said while inaugurating a Tourism Information Centre of Kerala here. “The functioning of the Tourism Department will be integrated in such a way that the growth of tourism will enrich the lives of traditional workers,” he added. —PTI
