Two electrocuted

TAMBARAM: Two workers were electrocuted in different places in the southern suburbs on Tuesday night.

In Neelankarai, K. Katakar, 21-year-old youth of West Bengal, was employed as an assistant in a kitchen in a food village at Injambakkam on the East Coast Road.

After business hours, the youth was cleaning up the kitchen when he came in contact with an electric switch board. He was rushed to a private hospital, from where he was shifted to a hospital in Adyar, where he died.

In another incident, a 20-year-old youth died on the spot when he came in contact with a live wire on Tuesday night at Anakaputhur. Police said M.Karthik was employed in the construction site of a multi-storey apartment complex in Bhaktavatsalam Nagar in Anakaputhur.

He ventured into the construction site that was pitch dark and was trying to switch on a lamp, when the accident took place. The Shankar Nagar police are investigating.
