‘Varumun Kappom’ to continue this year too

CHENNAI: The ‘Varumun Kappom’ scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government will be implemented this year, too.

The scheme, under which the poor in rural and urban areas are provided treatment, was inaugurated by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at Poonamallee on December 30, 2006.

Three medical camps were conducted a week in each district.

About 51 lakh people benefited from a total of 4,856 camps conducted during 2007, says an official release.
