The ICC has done the right thing by replacing umpire Steve Bucknor in the third Test match. In the same spirit, it should annul the result of the Sydney match, which was marred by several poor umpiring decisions. It should think of introducing the right to challenge a decision in cricket J. Jayashankar, Mayiladuthurai The ICC decision has more or less substantiated Team India's claim that Bucknor's umpiring was uneven. When the Australian media and others commented on his bad umpiring, he should have himself offered to move out. M. Rajaraman, Puducherry Umpires have erred and will err. Because of improved technology, the mistakes are readily ascertainable. If all umpiring decisions lend themselves to scrutiny, it would be better to depend on technology alone.
